YIPEE!!

Okay so for the last few MONTHS I have been counting down the days until Casey and I are eligible for a new phone. Pathetic, I know. We got an itouch for christmas and have learned how nice it is to have internet, games, cameras, music, you tube and all that stuff at your finger tips. We've had internet on our phones but its just not the same. The only thing about the itouch is that it only works where we have WIFI... our new phones will work EVERYWHERE!

So I will go from this phone: The LOTUS



To this phone: HTC EVO 4G




The countdown is down to 4 days and I can't freaking wait. I pretty much feel like it's Christmas. And what makes it even better is that when I first started looking at phones, the HTC EVO 4g was $200. Two hundred dollars in married language equals four hundred dollars. So Casey and I have been saving our pennies so we can each get a new phone. Then last week I got SUPER excited cause the phone dropped to $100 at Best Buy. We went to the store just to make sure and found out the deal was only good until Saturday (our upgrades aren't eligible until the following friday). So I was super sad... less than a week away from saving 200 bucks! But then I looked at the deals for this week and to my wonderful surprise, the phone will be free this week! I guess they just came out with the HTC 3D which drove the price of the HTC 4G down. Not bad... new phones that we have been drewling over for months, FOR FREE!YIPEE!!

Bountiful Basket

For a few months now I have been getting a Bountiful Basket (http://www.bountifulbaskets.org). Bountiful Basket is a food co-op and you are able to get fruits and veggies and some other things for super cheap. Many people have asked me about it so I thought I say more about it on my blog. Basically you get on thier website on monday morning. For our area, that is 10 AM. You pretty much have to get on there right at 10 AM because they sell out super fast. You pay the 16.50 (15.00 for the basket and 1.50 handling fee) and you pick your location and time that you would like to pick your basket up on the following Saturday.

The first time I did it it was just too much food for just Casey and I. It worked out nicely that for the last couple months I have been splitting it each week with my friend Hayley. By doing bountiful baskets I have totaly cut our food bill. I was going to costco and paying about 40 every two weeks for produce. I would normally get a thing of apples, a thing of another fruit, a bag of snap peas, a bag of mini cucumbers, a bag of mini peppers. At costco... that adds up. And oftentimes we wouldn't get thru the produce before it went bad so I would have to throw some of it away.

Bountiful Baskets has been perfect. After splitting it with the Castle's, it comes out to be about 8 dollars a week. You get a small number of many different things. The quality of the produce has been great and there have only been a few wierd things that we've gotten (weird to me= raddishes, artichokes, rubbarb). So now I really only need to go to Costco for Chicken and a few other things... which means we are spending WAY LESS on food :)

A girl can dream...

So last night my grandmother had a house warming party in her new house in Orem. She recently moved here from Preston, Idaho... and a house that she has lived in for the last 74 years. I think it was a big step for her... but now she is closer to family which is wonderful. Another reason for the party was that my cousin who has spent the last three years in Japan with his family was in town. It was really fun to see everyone. My grandma seems really happy, which makes me happy.

After the party, Casey and I were driving and I could tell he was really thinking about something. Casey and I both LOVE to travel... and we would both welcome the idea of living somewhere foreign... as least for a little while. I think my cousin living in Japan got Casey's juices flowing cause he asked me "What if I worked at the Buschard Gardens". The Buschard Gardens is this INCREDIBLE garden that we visited last year with Rich and Michele in Victoria, Canada. This question wasn't too far off cause Casey is presently a "landscaping specialist" for the hospital in Orem and is really liking it. I told him I would support him in whatever he decides... especialy if it brings me closer to a Swiss Chalet and a place that is this beautiful:



Neither of us know where life will take us at this point, but I think I would LOVE to live somewhere foreign... whether it is Canada (not so foreign... at least not to me- a canadian!) or somewhere else.

David and Cami Romney

Congratulations David and Cami!!

I just have to say that I had a blast at your wedding! It was a lot of fun to see your family and especially your mom!








I was also super impressed with Cami's family which I think is a little funny because technically they are my family too! David is one of my best friends from highschool in North Carolina... we also lifeguarded together so for at least a summer there we pretty much saw each other everyday. David met Cami at the foreign language housing at BYU. Her maiden name is Godfrey. At the wedding, I was able to talk to her family and figure out our relation a little. After talking to Cami's grandpa- he asked me "do you know the Godfrey hardware store in Preston?"... I said "Yes, that was my grandpa's!!" and then this cute man said with a huge smile "then we are related". The world gets even smaller... My dad actually went to highschool with Cami's mom... Cydne Hansen. Cydne Hansen went on to marry a Godfrey. I also talked to Cami's aunt to told me my dad was such a hottie back in the day... she said all the girls wanted him, he was such a hearthrob!

I also really loved the wedding program. I haven't been to a wedding yet where there was dinner and a program for the reception. I'm so used to going to weddings where there is a line and after the line you go thru the food table, then go home. The wedding was refreshing and FUN! First we ate, then there were a few musical performances (First Cami's little brother sang and played a song he wrote for her... SO CUTE. He said "this is for the most beautiful sister in the world" before he played. Then David's sigblings sang to a Tangled song, then Cami's older brother played the guitar and sang, then another brother had put together a rap video- so funny).

This is David's siblings singing to a song from Tangled (sorry its so blurry). They are all so much older than the last time I saw them... made me feel super old!

Every time someone hit thier glass with a fork, the couple were to stand up and kiss :)



We also watched a video of pictures of them growing up. (sidenote: after the wedding, as we were driving home Casey said "I want a kid" in the cutest way imaginable. It kinda caught me off guard, so I asked him why he said that. Then he said after watching the slideshow of pictures of all these different experiences you have in life, he's excited to have that with our kids. SO CUTE).

Then the parents and the bride and groom gave thier speeches - my favorite was Cami's moms'... she said the nicest things about David and choked up saying Cami was her best friend - made me choke up!

After that, they cut the cake (again, sorry its blurry and dark)



Then bride and groom had thier first dance as a married couple - which they danced to a song that Casey immediatly bought with his itouch and we have pretty much listenend to it nonstop. I don't know the name of the song, but my favorite lyrics from it are "I want you to be my last first kiss".






Then the Daddy-Daughter dance- always one of my favorite part of weddings.

David threw Cami's garter. This was SUPER wierd for Marti and I. Seeing David go up a girl's skirt -even if she was his bride- WEIRD!


And Cami threw her bouquet. It took two times cause the first time it hit the ceiling ;)


It was just such a pleasant evening. I'm super happy for you two! Thanks for inviting Casey and I to your special day!

Cake Decorating

So I'm in a cake decorating class with my friend Anna. It has been really good to get me to buy the stuff you need for decorating cakes and to get some of the basics down. Also to spend some time with Anna! This is just a preview... Anna's blog has more on it ;)


My Cake: I was going to write "I love KC" on my cake and I told anna that, and asked her not to judge me. Her reply was "that's gay, you should write "I love Anna" on your cake". So I did. With a little I love KC too ;)

Godfrey Family Camp Out

First off- I just want to say to Kayla, I totally deserve blog quenn for posting about the campout first, right? Second- It was such a fun weekend- even if we got rained out on the last morning.

This year the family camp out was held a Cherry Hill Campground and Waterpark in North Salt Lake. Most of you know that I would of been happy just about anywhere as long as I got to be with my nieces and nephews. It started friday night with delicious cafe rio style burritos that Julie brought up, then we all went over to the waterpark where there was a free concert. It was just a very relaxing night.

Then saturday we woke up to eggs and pancakes that Andrea and Mike made. Andrea made this coconut syrup for the pancakes that was super yummy. After just hanging out for the morning, playing games and chatting we went to the waterpark. Then the real fun began. They had this slide that was kinda like a white water rafting ride... you slide up on the sides, it had wading pools, waterfalls, and tons of bumps. You were allowed to go four at a time so naturally, the godfrey family made each run down into a race. At first we had the rule that you couldn't stand up... you had to stay in your tube. That was hard cause at some points in the wading pool you had to get yourself over to the drop off. We did that a few times... and I have to admit it was way fun.

At the park there was also a large pool, kids pool, lazy river and on the opposite side of the park there were two more slides. After competing on the raft slide, Jeremy had the idea of doing a triathalon. GENIOUS! Except this time, the rule was that there were NO RULES. We were to go down the raft slide, do one lap around the lazy river, then run to the opposite side of the park and go down the other slide. Firt person at the bottom of the last slide, wins. WELL- let me tell you that us Godfrey's don't play nice when there is a competition at foot. There was bumping, pushing, scratching, kicking, jumping, shoving, and more.... some of which not only to each other but to some of the innocent bystanders. Imagine seven Godfreys- most of which are former lifeguards- sprinting across a waterpark. IT WAS SO FUN! I will say that the Weiss family gets credit for most creative- while we were in the lazy river jeremy tried putting an innertube around my head to hold me back, and when I was getting out of the lazy river Julie pulled my bathing suit bottom down and I muned the family reunion behind us.

So the winner of the triathlon is debateable. The rule was NO RULES, right? Well on the sprint to the slides from the lazy river, Mike, Jeremy and Casey pulled in the lead. Right behind them was Julie and I. Mike, jer and Casey were polite enough to get in line. Julie and I, however- we went straight to the beginning of the line and asked the people if we could cut cause we were in a race. Tecnically the first person at the bottom of the last slide was Julie. Mike, Jer and KC say that we are disqualified because we cheated - I think they were upset they didn't think to cut in line themselves. Between the three, Mike's foot crossed the bottom of the slide first. Regardless- it was way fun.

Condo Anniversary

It has now been just a little over a year since we bought our condo. This time last year we were ripping carpet out, painting, tiling, beadboarding, cleaning and the works. We worked so hard to get all the work done. Since then we have done a few more things to decorate and make the place our own. I have already recently posted pictures of our living room and spare room (which we call Easton's room because our first born son will be named Easton. I figure calling it Easton's room is a good way to jinx us into having a girl first ;)).Here are pictures of our bedroom and bathroom.

So I absolutely love HGTV. I love the creative ideas, the design, the colors... pretty much everything about the design shows. Especially design on a dime. I have also been really liking yellow and gray lately... so I decided to do our bathroom those colors. Luckily, our bathroom was already yellow (KC picked out the paint last year... and if you are wondering if our bathroom is really THAT bright, don't worry... it is). So I started with getting a yellow and gray shower curtain, then for my jewerly holder all I had to do was put gray fabric behind. The artwork got a little more tricky. I had my mom make me these flowers out of yarn and the only thing left to design is the arrangment on the canvas (that I covered with the same gray fabric I used for my jewerly thingy). I prefer the 7 flowers hanging down, Casey prefers the three flowers in the corner. What do you think?







I really love how our bedroom turned out. I love the colors and I love the bedspread. I am also proud of our window treatment...I was planning on making my own so I went to joanns and looked at thier "blackout" fabric(had to be blackout for the 1 day a week KC and I can sleep in). At half-price, to get enough fabric for our windows it would have cost 80 bucks! So then I Ross, Target and TJ max. No luck. Then I went to walmart and for 10 dollars for each panel (total of 20) for black-out we had our window treatment! I just had to tac them a bit it make them fit right, but they are the perfect color and I was thrilled! However, from doing this post I realized our bedroom could use a little more artwork on the walls!

So I was bored at work today and I rememberd that I used to have a photobucket account. I could not have been happier with my blast to the past!!

I found this video that I made in highschool with my friends, the fabulous seven. Ana, Ava, Becca, Britney, Hayley, Stacie and Me. My sisters told me back then that more than likely when I left highschool that I would be friends with them anymore. I'm happy to say (of coarse) that they couldn't have been more wrong.

I'm so happy that all my friends are all still doing so well!

Ana recently got back from a mission and is about to get married! Ava is about to move to Los Angeles with her husband to start (dental?) school. Becca just had a beautiful boy named knox and couldn't be cuter... and Stacie is about to have her second beautiful girl! Britney gets home from her mission just this next week and I'm super excited to see her. And Hayley has been one of my best friends for the past few years... not to mention our husbands have become good friends and like to "kick each other's A's" at FIFA. My favorite is when Casey will turn to me at the same time that Jake turns to Hayley with thier puppy dog faces and Hayley and I then look at each other- we both know exactly what they want: to play video games together like little kids.

Anyways, if any of you fab seven read this blog, I think you will like this video as much as I did:

The Waffle Shoppe

Can you say delicious!?!

I am so proud of my friend Hayley Castle who was brave enough to start and open up a waffle shoppe at the Provo farmer's market!! She makes this absolutely delicious syrup. Honestly- it's to die for. It is so good that i'm happy that more people will be able to have it. She also designed her logo (which I think is way cute) and her aprons and all that comes with opening up a shoppe like this. She is way organized all even all the dishes are way cute. Way to go Hayley!

So if you are in the Provo area on a saturday morning, do yourself a favor and go check it out!!

Some people....

So I was at our condo pool with my friend Anna... it was in the middle of the day around noon or so. Also at the pool was this married couple (about my age) and a family of 5 kids with thier mom. This family happened to be mexican. The kids were playing... making a normal amount of noise... as kids do. They weren't fighting with each other, they weren't screaming... they were just playing. Now I didn't quite catch what happened in the beginning, but what I did catch was the girl from the married couple walked over to the mom and told her that she had to tell her kids to be quiet. I heard her say that it is pool rules and that it was her only day off work and her only day to come to the pool and she wanted her peace and quiet. Then her husband chipped in and asked the mom if she knew how to read English. When the mom told them to get away from her, the girl was like "at least I asked nicely first". Whatever- they were totally rude and extremely demeaning.

SOME PEOPLE!!!

First of all.... the pool rules say nothing about being quiet in the middle of the freaking day! The pool rules say "no loud noises after 10 PM". And i'm sorry, it is a COMMUNITY POOL. Who do you think you are telling anyone to be quiet. If you want quiet... go buy your own pool. Not to mention asking her if she knew how to speak english... he knows she did because she was speaking english to her kids the whole time!!

I absolutely loathe people like that couple. What's worse is i'm pretty sure they are in my ward. I can only hope that they end up having 5 kids themselves and learn how ridiculous they were.

New Recipes

So I have been trying really hard lately to make different home cooked meals. We have a few meals that we know we both love and I cook them often... but sometimes you just need something different! My sister Michele taught me how to make homemade noodles and I absolutely LOVE them. For homemakers one night we made this lasagna... and it was delicious! I got the recipe from my sister. It was made with homemade, whole wheat spinach noodles and made from scratch sauce.


Then the next week I wanted to make something that Casey would like too. For those of you who don't know Casey is the kind of person that will pretty much eat anything... except lasagna. He loathes it. Apparently he got fed lasagna all the time on his mission until the point to making him sick. He says he would rather eat a cow pie before he'll take another bite of lasagna as long as he lives. However, he does like alfredo sause. So... without even coming close to the word "lasagna" I told him that I made a noodle, alfreado and chicken dish.

Unfortunately, it was tasteless. I can't really figure out why... but it wasn't good- at all. We each had a small piece and then ended up throwing the rest of it away. Such a huge waste of food- but I guess that's what you get sometimes when you experiment. Needless to say- I won't be making anymore chicken aldredo lasagnas.

I have also been into making homemade whole wheat blueberry muffins. They are way yummy, and the perfect breakfast to grab on our way out the door.

Also this week I tried making enchiladas. We were both hesitant after our alfredo lasagna experience and it coming out of the oven pretty much looking the exact same. Casey even looked at the enchiladas and asked me if I thought alfredo sauce would taste good on top! Haha... can't blame him. A little bit to our surprise, the enchiladas were fabulous! Delicious actually... I made a whole plan hoping to have some leftover for work.... but we gobbled the whole pan right up! This is how I made them (sorry there are no pictures):

Mix together: 1/2 can cream of mushroom, some rice, sour cream, can of green chilis. Put some of this mixture with some cooked chicken in a tortilla and roll it up. Make about 5-6 of these and line them up in a cake pan. Layer the top with more mixture, then on top of that put a layer of cheese. Bake in the oven at 350 for about a half hour... or until cheese is melted. Trust me- you won't be disappointed!

Weekend with the Davis'

One of the best weekends I have had so far with Casey was about a month ago when the Davis' came. The Davis' are a family from Casey's mission... Casey served in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is kind of hard to explain and some of you might think i'm super cheesy... but from the moment we were all together there was like this different light about Casey. He was just so happy to be with them. I don't know if it is some sort of mission thing... but I absolutely loved it. I loved how happy he was the whole weekend. The Davis' couldn't have been nicer. They told me how much Casey meant to them and how much he helped them on his mission. They said he was one of the best missionaries that has ever come to thier area. They kept telling me how lucky I was to be married to such a great person... and that I'd better appreciate him. Have no fear, Davis'... I know. And I am so proud of him.


While they were here we went to the Festival of Colors. It was way fun!
