This week extreme makeover has been in South Jordan, Utah... just about a 1/2 hour away from where I live... and actually in the same neighbourhood as one of my sisters. It all started for me when Marti put on her facebook status that she wanted someone to go with her volunteer at the house. The only shift that she could see was open was 2 am to 8 am tuesday morning. I was game! Not too many times in a lifetime you get do go do something like that! Then I found out that she couldn't even get into that shift... we were put on waiting lists.
Then on Saturday I was at the Rio Tinto Stadium for a Real Soccer game (LOVE THEM) and the EMHE people were there. I ran into one of them, asked him a few questions and then told him we were having a hard time being able to come help and asked if he had any suggestions for me. WELL- then Joshua pulled out his business card and said "just give me a call, I'll fit you guys in". Already I was super stocked!!
Well we get there and we go to the volunteer tent. The ladies at the volunteer tent were super rude. They pretty much told us to buzz off. So we went around the corner and called Joshua... and he came right over to get us and let us in. Then get this- it turns out that Joshua is the field producer. It seemed like he was the guy in charge of all the filming! He had us pretty much be the extras in quite a bit of the scenes!
So here we are, just finished doing a scene with Paige, one of the designers on the show. Also in the picture is Joshua.
We also helped with the catering company with dishes from lunch:

For most of the time during the day we were the background people for the scenes. We also brought water around to everyone and helped clean up some wood. Then, as we were getting ready to leave we went to say Bye to Joshua and to thank him for such an amazing day. He told us that if we just waited for a few minutes that Ty Pennington would be getting there and if we stuck around he would put us in a few scenes with him! No brainer.... so for the next 1.5 hours, we stayed and shot a few scenes with Ty.
And then last, but not least... our picture with Ty Pennington! Funny story- Anna had been telling me all day that "Xzibit" had been there, and that he was this really cool famous person too. Apparently I didn't really pay attention to that cause I had no idea who "Xzibit" is. Then as we were getting ready to head out, Ty had been standing next to Xzhibit. So, thinking that Xzibit was just another one of the workers or volunteers, I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if he would take a picture for us with Ty. He was super nice and said of course. At that point Anna was like... "why don't you get in the picture with us". I thought that was kinda wierd... but being modest he was like "no... you don't want me in the picture".
Haha! I'm such an idiot....
We couldn't be more greatful to Joshua and how everyone at EMHE treated us SO WELL (except the volunteer tent). You could tell who the VIP's were cause they were wearing a dark blue colored shirt. They couldn't have been nicer and treated us (nobodies) with more respect. I guess that makes sense with what they do for a living... help people.

Both weddings were really fun. Casey was so happy to see so many friends he hasn't seen in so long. Even though we partly felt like we were melting for two days straight because of the heat, we had a really great time.
