Bye bye Marti and Collin!

Marti and Collin Grant are off to New Orleans for Collin to go to medical school. They are really good friends and will be well-missed! Casey and I are excited for you though, Grants!

We will definately have to keep in touch and hopefully make it down there to visit! Glad you guys made it safe and know that you are always welcome to stay with us WHEN you visit ;).

Happy Fourth of July!

We had one plan for the fourth: take it easy. We had a few errands to run and since we always seem super busy on Saturdays the list of things to do started to pile up. I was able to get most everything done in the morning and was able to take it easy for the rest of day which was super nice. I love Cafe Rio... Casey is going through an anti-cafe phase so we have started to develop a tradition of me getting Cafe Rio and Casey going a few doors down and getting Thai food. We did that and something as simple as lunch and then relaxing afterwards started to make our day awesome. I even got to go to the pool for a minute!

We were planning on going to bed early but of coarse our plans never stick... and I'm really glad this year that we didn't. Jake and Hayley invited us to go to the Real soccer game... and we had a really good time. Casey and I LOVE those games and would go a lot last year but it just started to get expensive. Jake was able to hook us up and for 13 dollars we both got tickets. I could watch soccer all day... so even though the game itself wasn't all that exciting... I was still super happy. My favorite part was after the game we got to go on the field to watch the fireworks. You could still see the cleat marks in the grass!

Salt Lake VS. Seattle : 0-0.

One thing is for sure though... it was definately passed our bed time! We are normally in bed around 8:30 and asleep by 9 pm. Super lame, I know... but we love it. We didn't get home until midnight and Casey has to be at work at 5:30 am! Kind of embarassing... last night we were so tired that we went to lay down for just a minute at 6:45pm. Don't worry... we didnt' get up until this morning. HA!

Dream Home

I found this website called floorplanner.com and I've just been having a little fun. We are probably atleast multiple decades away from maybe ever being able to design our own home... but i've always loved going through houses and it has been fun kinda putting my own together.

Easton Calvin Houghton... is on his way :)

I've been pretty excited about posting this. Casey and I found out at about 15 weeks that we are having a BOY !!!!! We seriously couldn't have been happier. I consider Casey and I to be generally happy people... but the JOY that I felt that day was different. I don't think we've felt that way since our wedding day.

His name will be Easton Calvin Houghton. Casey has liked the named Easton since he was a kid and has always wanted to name his first-born son Easton. Calvin is Casey's dad's name and we plan to use our parent's names as middle names for as many as we can. I've heard a lot of people say it's not a good idea to name your kid before they are born because seeing them might change your mind. We are pretty set on Easton so I guess i'm just hoping he comes out an Easton!

Even though it was pretty obvious that it's a boy, we both felt like waiting until our "official" ultrasound at 20 weeks to announce what we are having. So, for the last few weeks i've been writting down a few things that I wanted to remember.

....Right after our 15 week ultrasound where Easton was moving around A LOT:

Nicole: Can Easton PLEASE please play soccer
Casey: No. I prefer the other sports. Only if he doesn't like the other sports.
Nicole. Boo. I like soccer.
Casey: Who do you think is going to be practicing and coaching and playing all these sports with him? Me.
Nicole. Fine. Then I'll teach him how to swim and he will be able to swim circles around you!
Casey: He already can swim better than me in your stomach! And he's not even born yet!

...After Sandra gave us some boy baby clothes:

Casey (looking very distraught): "we are gonna have to organize all these clothes according to age or I won't be able to dress our child!"

Look at those cute slippers!!

...As Casey was telling his buddies that we are having a boy:

Casey: "Do you know what this means!?! This means Little League, Junior Jazz, Football Camp, posterity living on the Houghton name!"

...As we were starting to decorate our nursery:

"We are having a boy. This is my jurisdiction. We will have SPORTS decorations" (don't worry... I had already decided that. Didn't hurt to let Casey think he came up with that one ;)

We had a really good time starting the nursery. When my grandma moved from her house in Preston, Idaho where she had lived pretty much her whole life, she gave us these baseball gloves. We are pretty sure they were my grandpa's... one of them says "WWII" where he served. Either way- they are really old and cool looking. We got these box frames from Hobby Lobby and put them up. It was really cool to have something sentimental on the wall, AND be sports related.

...At our 20 week ultrasound:

Casey was so curious! It was adorable. He had so many questions. The nurse was so nice to explain so much to us. By the end of the ultrasound, the nurse had explained almost every single body part, how ultrasound works, how birth defects are detected... and a lot more.

Since this ultrasound was done in the doctor's office... its a little different than the first two. Instead of a CD with the pictures, I got a print out and had to take a picture of that to be able to post them. And actually, I think we got much better and clearer shots at 15 weeks anyways. (kudos to the student... he had only done a few ultrasounds before). They aren't the best quality in the first place... but I guess with an ultrasound they are hard to read anways, haha. They are also upside down, ohwell.

Arms

Face

Still a BOY :)

Foot. My favorite picture this time around.

Legs

In all three ultrasounds, Easton was moving around A TON (in my third.. the tech couldn't even get the heart beat for very long cause he would move) and he was crossing his legs. Pretty sweet :)

We are pretty excited to be parents in the Houghton home. For father's day I gave Casey a bunch of Cowboy's Football baby stuff. He asked me how I felt about us having a "Cowboy's baby" and I said "I love it. I want him to be just like his dad" :) Also... when he opened the baby Cowboy's slippers he looked at me and said, "no fair, I want a pair". Oh no...

Baby towel, baby bottle, pacifier, bib, slippers.

Pregnancy Pose

I feel like in the last few months I've gained tons and tons of weight... and not just in my belly. So many of my clothes don't fit anymore. And I haven't even been one of those pregnant people who eat whatever they want cause they are pregnant. I think I eat pretty healthy and the only "pregnancy craving" I've had so far where I just HAD to have something was sweet potatoe fries- once. I'm not working out as much as I did before (just too tired) but I still work out quite a bit. Regardless, the weight is uncontrollably packing on. Its been really hard for me and even taking this picture was a big step for me. Casey's been pretty good about it. Every time I complain he just looks at me dumbfounded and says something to the effect: Duh, you're pregnant. My sisters told me I would regret it if I didnt take any pictures... so here you go (me sticking my neck out so you don't see quite as much face fat).

Nineteen Weeks

Bear Lake

Last weekend Casey and I went up to Bear Lake. It was SUPER nice getting away with nothing but relaxing on the agenda. We drove up on friday night, went to the hotel and watched a movie. On Saturday we woke up, ate breakfast, took a nap, ate lunch, layed out at the pool, ate dinner, watched tv, went to bed. That is my idea of a VACATION! It was great. My all-time favorite thing to do is to do nothing with Casey James Houghton.

Lake Powell

We had a blast in Lake Powell!

Thanks to everyone who came and made it a great trip!

Leann and H Hatfield
Adam and Ashley Green
Michele and Rich Dutton
Hayley and Jake Castle
Greg and Lexi Bullock
And... Casey and I :)

Funniest memory of the trip: Our car on the way down was listening to Jim Gaffigen on michele's phone. We lost service and it turned off about halfway to Price. When we got to Price we went to the gas station to go to the bathroom. From the next stall I could hear Michele's phone and thought it was super wierd that she was listening to it on our bathroom stop. As she was washing her hands I even heard her tell someone how funny he is. Then when we were checking out Michele complimented the gas station attendant on having Jim Gaffigen on thier radio. You should have seen the confused look on her face. Halarious. Then I said to Michele "it's coming from your phone." She had no idea. We laughed so hard we cried and had stomach aches afterwards.

So on this trip, we laughed...

we hung out on the rocks...

we had sister time...

we cliff jumped (mostly the boys and Lexi)...

we had a sweet house boat...

we watched the boys act like three year olds...

we fished (mostly the boys and hayley)...

we golfed (mostly the boys)

we even got pulled behind the house boat (okay.. only adam and michele)

We also dealt with EXTREMELY obnoxious wind, played games, explored our litte island, ate a lot, slept outside on the top of the houseboat, got sun burned, made a volcano, made a mud pit, went down the slide, built a few fires.... and had a GREAT time!
